Procurement & Maintenance — a Master-level intensive one-week course, delivered by Expertise France-Groupe AFD and CEBE Faculty.
About the Training
The Medical Technology Management (MTM) course is a Master-level intensive programme focused on the procurement and maintenance of medical devices. It is designed for biomedical engineers and technicians, healthcare institution staff, government or health agency decision-makers, and any professional involved in the procurement who are already familiar with these topics and looking to deepen their strategic and operational expertise.
Delivered jointly by CEBE faculty and a French team, the training combines presentation, case studies, and a site visit to King Faisal Hospital.
Presentation and case studies are intensive and interactive, moving from procurement basics through advanced procurement strategy, a hospital site visit, maintenance fundamentals, and advanced maintenance strategy.

Daily Programme
Opening & Introductions — Welcome remarks and brief introduction of CEBE, welcome remarks from AFD Group, official opening remarks from MOH, and opening remarks from RBC/MTD.
Hospital Technics & Flows — The hospital as a place of technology and processes: modeling, flows, healthcare provision and consequences; hospital fundamentals (water, oxygen, electricity); medical device life cycles.
Procurement Fundamentals — Needs analysis, costs, HR, tenders, commissioning, disputes, training, and safety.
Advanced Procurement — Case Studies & Advanced Questions — Upstream technology management, analysis of needs, costs, and human resources; consultation and calls for tenders; essential conditions to be met; commissioning; disputes; training; safety.
Advanced Procurement (continued) — Strategic procurement, essential contractual conditions, and commissioning.
King Faisal Hospital Visit — Biomedical engineering workshop tour and debrief on maintenance organisation.
Maintenance Fundamentals — Managing installed equipment; organizing internal and external maintenance (preventive, conditional, or corrective); quality assurance; electrical safety; ECME; medical device vigilance; metrology; budget and economic questions; global costs.
Advanced Maintenance — Case Studies — Budget and economic questions, global costs; overall strategic management of equipment for maintenance and contracts; obsolescence vs. innovation; homogeneity; local or regional distribution of human and material resources.
Academic Validation — Assessment and validation of acquired knowledge.
