Establishing Sustainable Prosthetic Liner Fabrication and Clinical Certification in East Africa/Rwanda/UR-CEBE
The Rwanda Prosthetic Training Mission (March 2026) conducted at the Regional Centre of Excellence in Biomedical Engineering and eHealth (CEBE), University of Rwanda in Kigali Innovation City (KIC) – Kigali Rwanda, bringing together clinicians to strengthen prosthetic rehabilitation capacity in East Africa. The training is organized by Operation Namaste in collaboration with CEBE/UR, Bridging Afrika, Global Disability Innovation Hub, King Faisal Foundation, and National Union of Disability Organizations in Rwanda (NUDOR). Participants receive hands-on certification training in prosthetic interface care and affordable silicone liner fabrication using innovative technologies such as 3D-printed molds. The initiative aims to build local production capacity and improve access to quality prosthetic services for amputees across Rwanda and conflict-affected regions of East Africa.
Interview for Applicants to the eHealth Master's Program and the Rehabilitation & Mobility Master's Program
On 4 March 2026, CEBE conducted interviews for the Master’s program in E-Health, and on 5 March 2026, for the Master’s program in Rehabilitation and Mobility. The expert panel evaluated candidates’ academic background, professional experience, and motivation to contribute to healthcare innovation. Applicants were also assessed on their problem-solving skills and potential to impact communities. This rigorous process ensures the selection of highly qualified and committed individuals. The programs aim to equip graduates with advanced knowledge and practical skills in technology-driven healthcare and rehabilitation. CEBE continues to nurture professionals who can improve healthcare delivery and support patient mobility across the region.
A three- week Training of Trainers in 3D printing kicks off
On 10th October 2023, CEBE conducted a training of trainers in 3D printing. The training was attended by professionals in rehabilitation selected from health facilities in Rwanda.This training was organised in partnership with Humanity and Inclusion in a bid to equip health professionals with skills in 3D printing which will help them during their professional career
