The World Health Organization Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC) is the WHO framework for measuring health and disability at both individual and population levels. The WHO Family of International Classifications includes: the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD), the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), and the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI).
The WHO-FIC Network currently consists of 34 Collaborating Centres, five academic research Collaborating Centres, eight nongovernmental organizations (in official relations with WHO), and technical liaisons.
The meeting is hosted by the University of Rwanda's Centre of Excellence in Biomedical Engineering and e-Health (CEBE) in collaboration with Rwanda's Ministry of Health. CEBE serves on behalf of the Ministry of Health as the national reference Centre and provides essential technical support for the implementation and maintenance of national health data standards.
Across the week, reference groups met to advance the work of the network — refining the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), improving mortality coding, and enhancing the coding of health interventions using the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) — all aimed at strengthening the comparability and efficiency of global health data.
